Review: Dark Mirror (Dark Passage #1) and Fallen From Grace by M.J. Putney

Overall Impression:

Source: Library and free ebook, respectively

Challenges: Support Library, DAC

Publication Date: March 1st 2011

Short synopsis (Goodreads)Lady Victoria Mansfield, youngest daughter of the earl and countess of Fairmount, is destined for a charmed life. Soon she will be presented during the London season, where she can choose a mate worthy of her status.
Yet Tory has a shameful secret—a secret so powerful that, if exposed, itcould strip her of her position and disgrace her family forever. Tory’s blood is tainted . . . by magic.

My ReviewI loved the concept of going forward in time as opposed to backwards. While there was a lot of detail, and it was engaging, it could have been better. I came to know the characters and cared about them, but not as much as I could have. There needed to be more depth. That being said maybe since the stage has been set the next in the series will be better, but this one was lacking a little umph for me. I liked it, but didn’t love it.

Fallen from Grace was a nice little insight into the life of Allarde. Not a lot of depth in that one either, but for the 5 minutes it took me to read it, it was interesting.

Overall, these are worth a read and I am excited for the next in the series, but not something you need to rush to the front of your TBR.

  1. I felt the same way about the characters. I wanted more from them. Maybe they'll be fleshed out more in the sequel.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I LOVE comments and do my best to return the visit! ^__^ And while I appreciate the notice, this is an award free blog. Too many books, too little time!
