Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy #3) by Richelle Mead

Overall Impression: ****

Who/What decided me: Hmm, just about everyone else in the whole YA world

Short synopsis (Goodreads): For Rose Hathaway, everything seems out of kilter. Ever since she made her first Strigoi kills, a dark shadow has been creeping over her. Looming in the background, too, is another realization: If she follows her forbidden love for guardian Dimitri Belikov, she might lose her best friend forever. And these sleep-shaking worries couldn't have come at a worse time. The immortal unloving are prowling everywhere, famished for vengeance against her. An adrenaline-laced episode of the teen pop favorite Vampire Academy.

My Review: Another GREAT installment in the VA series. If you’ve gotten this far, there really is no turning back. With the cliff hanger ending on this one, you HAVE to keep reading. And believe me, I will not view that as a hardship. As a matter of fact, once I am done writing this review, I shall go and do just that!

In all seriousness, I am SO glad that I am getting into this series when all of the books are already published. I would’ve been in agony had I had to wait after the ending of this one. As stated earlier, due to my over-curiosity (of which I assure you, I am working on curing. As I order the next books, I shall not even peek at what their summary’s are. I promise!) I kind of knew what was going to happen towards the end. Thus, it was kind of ruined things because I was reading it and thinking to myself “okay, I only have 10 more pages left, when’s it going to happen…any second now…” so I was a little annoyed with myself for that. But otherwise, I REALLY liked reading it (did so in just over 24 hours, and I still did other things too!) so it’s a clincher for sure.

Rose is still a really great heroine. I love that she isn’t perfect but that she tries really hard to do what is right. I also like that as the novel progresses, she realizes that she has needs as well, and that the Moroi/Dhampir system isn’t perfect. Go Rose!

I was glad things didn’t get too explicit with the romantic scene. Clean romance is what I like best. It will be VERY interesting to see how things turn out. I don’t want to give too much away, but let’s just say that I am open to seeing what happens!
